J.S. Bach's chromatic music with its abundant modulations, offers the intabulator challenging difficulties. A note for note transcription is not possible. This edition of J.S. Bach's complete lute works, intabulated for the d-minor-lute, originated in an interplay between the newest musicological knowledge and practical trials on the lute itself. Consideration has been taken for concert: extensive retunings have been omitted and page turning within a piece is not necessary.
